Dr Helen Gavin

Project Manager

Environmental Change Institute

Helen is Project Manager for MaRIUS (Managing the Risks, Impacts and Uncertainties of droughts and water Scarcity). She has a background in hydrology and environmental science, and has been working in the water sector for over 13 years. Her interests and experience is wide ranging and includes wetlands, hydroecological investigations, and water resource management including droughts.

Professor Joshua Getzler

Joshua Getzler is a lawyer and legal historian who has studied the history and economics of water use through the prism of legal doctrine and property rights analysis, ranging from medieval times to the late industrial revolution. His findings are presented in his monograph A History of Water Rights at Common Law.

Dr Michael Gilmont

Research Fellow in Global Assessment of Water Security

Dr Michael Gilmont is a Researcher at the University of Oxford’s Institute for Science, Innovation and Society, applying interdisciplinary political, economic and hydrological approaches to analysing water resource development and use. His current research focuses on water, food and water security in the Middle East, including the decoupling of water resources from economic growth, and global water security assessment.

Nancy Gladstone

Water Programme Coordinator

Smith School for Enterprise and the Environment

Nancy coordinates the Smith School Water Programme (excluding the REACH project), providing administrative support to facilitate academic outputs and timely financial reporting; liaising with project partners to develop efficient monitoring and reporting mechanisms; and assisting with the dissemination of research and practical applications of the work.
