Congratulations to Daniel Armanios and his Team for making it to the list of finalists for the VC's Innovative Teaching and Assessment Award

Sincere congratulations to OWN member Daniel Armanios, BT Professor & Chair of Major Programme Management at Saïd Business School, and his Team spanning across the Business School, Department of Computer Science, IT Services and Carnegie Mellon University for being the Finalists of the Vice Chancellor's Innovative Teaching and Assessment Award.

Daniel's work presented the first augmented reality (AR) experience in the MBA course worldwide, simulating artistically rendered flooding scenarios on Saïd Business School building in 30, 50, and 100 years to mimic the degradation on the building.

According to Daniel and his Team, AR overlays digital scenarios directly onto their physical sites of interest. Pedagogically, this helps managers better understand how to translate their thinking and experimentation in the digital space directly onto the physical context of interest. The AR System was found to be a translation device that helps engineers and program managers communicate on more common ground around climate change. AR may help prepare future managers helping them visualise possible climate scenarios, so they can build better heuristics and rules to make their programmes more resilient.

Daniel has joined the Oxford Water Network Leadership Team this year bringing in inter-disciplinary perspectives on water research within the University of Oxford.
