OWN Members at the Leys Festival

On Sunday 28 July OWN members, Professor Jason Smith and his student Nicholas Joinson, participated in the Leys Festival provided by and for the local community at Blackbird Leys Park. This was the first time the event was supported by the University of Oxford, and OWN members had a stand with the University's Science Together team.

Participants had an opportunity to offer knowledge exchange focusing on water quality aspects, which had a practical benefit to the Leys community. According to Professor Jason Smith, the turnout was great and people were interested in talking about water pollution sensing. The stall was also visited by Anneliese Dodds, MP for Oxford East, Minister of State for Development and newly appointed Minister of State for Women and Equalities.

The event was a wonderful example of raising public awareness about water quality issues, as well as fostering science policy exchange.
