Matthew Wingfield conducts ethnographic research on hydropolitics and socio-ecological relations across Southern Africa. My forthcoming book “Mobilizing the Day Zero Drought in Cape Town” (Bloomsbury, 2026) looks at how inequities within water infrastructures, water use, and water contamination, especially in the agricultural sector, came to be politicised and leveraged by activists during the 2015-2017 drought in Cape Town (South Africa).
