Sophie is an MPhil student in Water Science, Policy and Management focusing on systems dynamics, water governance, strategic foresight and Flood Early Warning Systems. Her research is on understanding opportunities and challenges of private-public engagement in FEWS. She completed her undergraduate degree in Politics and International at SOAS, University of London, where she specialised in the environmental and climate politics of Southeast- and East Asia. Sophie speaks English, German, Thai and Mandarin and has worked in Mongolia, Thailand, Taiwan, the UK and Germany. Working in policy, she interned with the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) to implement bilateral environmental dialogue formats between the Federal German Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety and key partners. As founding member of the Young Urbanists of Southeast Asia, Sophie led the organisation’s growth through the creation of strategic plans for recruitment practices, workflows and regional outreach.
