One of my current research, titled "Payments for Ecosystem Services Programs (PES) and Climate Change Adaptation in Agriculture", examines the Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP) in the United States and its impact on reducing flood-related crop losses through the restoration of riparian buffers and wetlands. By leveraging the variation in CREP's introduction across counties located in the Mississippi River Basin, this research shows that CREP significantly reduces flood damage and generates financial benefits for federal crop insurance programs by decreasing indemnity payouts for insured farmers. This research underscores the importance of PES programs in managing water-related challenges and enhancing climate resilience.
